How to arrive

The Mausoleum is located near to the caves in which, on 24 March 1944, 335 men were massacred In reprisal for a partisan attack on German troops in Via Rasella.

By bus

Municipal (ATAC ) bus routes 118 and 218 pass near the Mausoleum.
Nearest bus stops:
218 route: bus-stop for Ardeatina/Fosse Ardeatine
118 route: bus-stop for San Callisto Catacombs
On the ATAC website you can plan your journey, check how much time you need, and identify the bus-stops and their locations.

From Termini Station

  • take Metro A (in the direction of Anagnina) and get out at the S. Giovanni station (in Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano). Continue on foot to the nearby Porta S. Giovanni bus-stop and catch the ATAC 118 bus (in the direction of Ardeatine/Scuola Padre Formato), getting out at the Ardeatina/Fosse Ardeatine stop
  • take Metro B line (in the direction of Laurentina) and get out at the Circo Massimo station. Continue on foot to the Terme Caracalla/Porta Capena bus-stop and catch the ATAC bus 18 (in the direction of Appia/Villa dei Quintili) as far as the stop for the San Callisto Catacombs.

By car

The entrance to the Mausoleum is located on the Via Ardeatina. Parking is available.

Coming from the centre of Rome
Viale delle Terme di Caracalla (or Viale Guido Baccelli), Via Cristoforo Colombo, Piazza dei Navigatori, Via delle Sette Chiese, Via Ardeatina. An alternative route is: Via di Porta San Sebastiano, Via Appia Antica, Via Ardeatina.

Coming from outside Rome
Take the A90/E80 (the main ring road known as the ‘Grande Raccordo Anulare’) as far as the exit 24-Ardeatine SP3e and continue along the Via Ardeatina in the direction of central Rome/Ardeatino.

From Fiumicino international airport, take the A91 motorway (Rome – Fiumicino Airport) in the direction of Rome; exit onto Viale Cristoforo Colombo and continue towards the city centre, Via delle Sette Chiese and Via Ardeatina.

The visit to the Mausoleum has disabled access.
